End of an Era

Just saw on our local news that a police officer from Birmingham is retiring after 40 years with the police department. The amazing fact in this ordinary occasion is he is the officer who finger printed Dr. Martin Luther King when he was arrested. Living in the south today, we often forget the turbulent time that endured here. We go about our blessed lives and we don't really give it much thought. Seeing this officer being interviewed this evening has really made me think what an interesting and wonderful place the south is. Thankfully , today we are able to have friends from all over the world!
